2022 Khanda Red Wine
A masterful interplay of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, the 2022 Khanda reveals a deep, layered profile. Dark and blue fruits- succulent boysenberry, ripe blueberry, and luscious plum- unfurl on the nose, laced with whispers of vanilla bean and warm cinnamon from its French Oak embrace. The palate is broad and structured, where vibrant black cherry and raspberry cascade over finely honed tannins, delivering both grip and elegance. With a generous decant, the wine sings today, yet its poised architecture hints at remarkable longevity- an unmistakable signature of Celia Welch’s craftsmanship.
The grapes for this wine were grown entirely on the Rewa Estate on the eastern benches of Coombsville, Napa Valley. Harvested in late September, each portion of the small vineyard was fermented separately, then transferred to French Oak barrels- 60% new. A blend of 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Cabernet Franc, and 28% Malbec, the blend spent 21 months in French Oak barrels prior to bottling in July 2024. A total of 100 cases were produced.
